For over 140 years, the core mission of the California Press Foundation has been to strengthen the future of California journalism through a variety of grant and internship programs. We enrich and grow California’s news gathering ecosystem by encouraging inclusivity, collaboration and the ongoing support of quality journalism education. The California Press Foundation has launched our fundraising campaign "Funding the Future of Journalism." This campaign empowers the next generation of journalists and ensures the vitality of quality reporting. Cal Press aims to raise $500,000 by July 31, 2024 to strengthen and support the future of journalism through Cal Press’s innovative programs and initiatives – including our grants, our resources supporting students, educators, professionals and stakeholders across the state, and hiring a full-time executive director for our organization. Our full board and Rowland and Pat Rebele are donating a combined $75,000 to launch this campaign. We now aim to raise an additional $75,000 in matching gifts by October 31, 2023 – and to reach our Fall Drive goal of $250,000 by December 31, 2023. Help fund the future of journalism!
